CH
Joval Angel's Kiss (Krissi) started
off her show career in style by winning the puppy
class at the Montgomery specialty. Even at the
young age of 6 months, she really put on a show
and let everyone there know that she was special.
Krissi has kept that spark and is living up to
that debut standard. She earned her championship
title by winning at 4 consecutive "Specialties". Also, being less than 18 months old, she won numerous sweepstakes including the Washington Cluster, Chester Valley, New England
& Framingham; and Best Junior the Airedale Terrier
Floater & Trenton. In that early list of wins, Krissi
earned a Best Bred By Group I & BIS at
the Garden
State Specialty.
Later that year (still 2006) and at the age of 20
months, from the Bred by Exhibitor class, Krissi
went on to win Best of Opposite Sex at the Hatboro
& Devon shows during the Montgomery weekend over
many more "mature" champions.
And
finally in 2006, we flew Krissi out to California
to the Eukanuba Invitational where she was earned
an Award of Merit, again from the Bred by
Exhibitor class. This win was very prestigious,
but more importantly, qualified her to compete at
Crufts, the biggest dog show in the world! At that
time Krissi was still VERY young, under 2 years
old, and this win qualified her to compete at
Crufts for the upcoming and the following years,
but because of the impending ban on dogs with
docked tails being shown in England, we decided to
go anyway.

Off to
England with Krissi...where despite her age, and
against the odds, she made us all extremely proud
by winning Best of Breed! And, I guess she wasn't
done, because she went on to make the cut of 7 in
a VERY competitive Terrier group.
You can easily see in the
pictures
that Krissi and Valeria had a great time in the
group ring. It was this experience that got the
attention of many people outside the United States
about Krissi's presence and also the quality of
our Joval Dogs as a whole....Anyway, this was only
the beginning...
Krissi's
"Specials" career started when Valeria showed her
to a Best of Breed win at the 2007 Metro-DC
Specialty. We then made arrangements with
professional handlers Adam and Jamie Bernardin to
continue to show her over the summertime where she
won numerous BOBs and Group Placements (see
detailed list below). In August, Krissi flew to
Calgary, Canada for the Airedale Terrier
National Championship. From the Open Bitch Class...
Krissi won Best of Breed EVERY DAY at all Four
shows! She also won two Group IIs (really big
rosettes ;)) and thus earned her Canadian
Championship in that one weekend.
After
returning to the U.S., Krissi continued her
winning ways with several more Group Placements
and her first All-Breed BEST IN SHOW. Just a week
later, during the Montgomery Weekend, she was
awarded Awards of Merit at the Hatboro I, Hatboro
II & Montgomery Specialties! After a several more
group placements in November & December, Krissi
finished off the year Ranked #1 Airedale Bitch and
#3 Airedale in the US for 2007. And, with her wins
at the Canadian National Krissi was also ranked #3
Airedale in Canada.
We decided
to not attend the Eukanuba Invitational show, but
did start off 2008 by going to the Westminster
Show in New York, where Krissi earned another
Award of Merit. Adam continued showing Krissi
selectively over the next few months, earning her
numerous more Group Placements, until in May we
decided to go back up to Canada for the National
Specialty Weekend. Krissi made it 2 years in a row
by winning Best of Breed at the National Specialty
Show. She "split" the Best of Breed wins over that
weekend with her Kennel-mate Ozzy,
CH
Joval-Arily Grand Illusion, again earning many
large Rosettes.
After a
few more shows and a few more Group Placements in
June, we flew Krissi over to Stockholm, Sweden for
the World Dog Show and the other 2 cluster shows.
On the First day, at the World Terrier Specialty,
Krissi won Best Bitch, the CAC, the CACIB and Best
of Breed. By winning the Swedish CAC, Krissi
earned her Swedish Championship Title. Later that
day, Krissi went on to Win a BIS 4 in a VERY
competitive Group of Terriers. The next day, at
the Airedale Terrier Club show, Krissi again won
Best Bitch as well as the BIS! On the final day at
the World Dog Show, Krissi earned her third Best
of Breed and became a WORLD WINNER! She also went
on to make the final cut of 7 in the Group. After
such a week, we didn't need a plane to fly home.
It should
be noted that this was the Second year in a row
where a JOVAL-Bred dog won Best of Breed at the
World Dog Show. In 2007, the title was won by
BIS Int.&
World CH Joval Starlight Rendezvous.
Krissi's
final shows of the year were in Canfield, OH at
the Steel Valley Specialty Shows where she won
Best of Breed in 2 out of 3 shows (over the #1
Airedale in the country.) She retired from active
showing while holding the rank of #1 Airedale
Terrier Bitch in the US.
She is now
excelling in the whelping box just as she did in
the show ring, raising one of our future stars.
She is truly one of a kind, a natural born
showgirl, who has more personality and charisma
than ANY dog I have ever known.
