The goal of the JOVAL Airedales breeding program is to
develop a line of Airedales that will improve the
overall health of the breed while conforming
to the
AKC breed standard in both temperament and
physical characteristics (conformation). Since
our puppies are placed as companions in
loving homes, we need to make sure they will live
long, happy & healthy lives.
|
It is true that no breeder can 100%
guarantee the health of any animal but, through
careful breeding standards,
hip scoring
of all breeding stock and genetic screening, we make
every effort possible to avoid problems. Since we are
not a "volume kennel" we can be very selective in
planning the direction of the JOVAL line and are
proud of the puppies we produce.
|
The foundation of our line,
BIS Eng & Am CH
Jokyl Flashback, was imported from a well-known and
respected English Kennel and has an impeccable pedigree that is
complete through a minimum of 10 generations.
JOVAL has built upon and improved from this
foundation of genetics - now in our 7th
subsequent generation. While we have bred the #1
Airedale in the U.S. for the past 3 consecutive
years, we are still striving to improve
something in every litter we produce. |
All JOVAL Companion puppies are sold on a legally binding
Sales Agreement
that clearly states the Terms of Placement
including a SPAY/NEUTER obligation.
|
Our "Terms of Placement" have been
derived from those implemented by the ATCA as
well as most other Breed "Parent" Organizations
and are specifically designed to ensure the
safety, health & welfare of our placed Airedales
while protecting the interests and reputation or
our breeding program.
|
Joval companion puppies
are sold with AKC Limited Registrations. With this
type of registration, these animals must be
spayed/neutered at the appropriate age and may not
be shown. This is a stipulation required
by most reputable breeders and is necessary to
minimize the possibility of improper breeding and
to protect the name and reputation of their
kennel. Animals on Limited Registrations may,
however, compete in agility,
obedience, rally or other non-conformation
events and we encourage owners to explore these
activities with their new companion.
|
In order to ensure that your new family
companion will be a "well-behaved"
family member, our sales agreement requires you
to attend a training class
with your Airedale during the first 9 months or
ownership.
|
In addition to the care we take in managing our breeding
program, we also ensure that ALL of our puppies are
placed in an appropriate environment with a new owner
that is willing to undertake the responsibility of
Airedale Ownership. As part of this process, we require
all prospective puppy buyers to complete our
Prospective Puppy Owner
Questionnaire.
Your thoughtful answers to the questions on this form
help us understand what you are looking for in a dog
as well as forcing you to consider some of the aspects
of Airedale ownership that you may not have considered.
Your answers allow us to "pair-up" the right
temperament pup with your expectations and your
family's lifestyle.
Please make sure that you indicate your gender
preference when you complete the questionnaire
so that we can plan accordingly. If you have no
preference for a male or female, please indicate
that also, as it makes it easier to select the
right puppy for you based on personality, not
gender. |
ALL DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE
but... they are TRANSFERRABLE from one litter to
another.
You will never loose your deposited money,
however you may need to wait a little longer
until the "right puppy for you" is available. |
After you have completed the
Prospective Puppy Owner
Questionnaire and we have corresponded with
you to clarify any elements of your answers that
may require additional follow-up, we will
instruct you on the next-steps. So that you
fully understand our process, we have a
Reservation
Deposit Agreement that we ask you to read,
print, sign and return via postal mail along
with your deposit check.
Reservations are accepted on a
first come-first served basis and your position
in the litter "reservation queue" is determined by
the receipt order of buyer's Reservation Deposit
Agreement. Male
and female requests will be considered independently
but ultimate availability is based on nature
with additional consideration being given based on
puppy temperament testing and evaluations
performed.
|
About a week after the puppies have been born and
determined to be healthy and thriving, a gender
availability breakdown will be done and persons
in the reservation queue will be notified based
on number of puppies available and their order
in the queue. At that time you will be asked to
commit to a reasonably approximated puppy
pick-up date. Your email confirmation will serve
this purpose as a formal commitment.
Once you have committed to a particular litter
and pick-up timeframe, unless you have
pre-paid-in-full, the "Commitment Installment"
will be required, and will
also be applied towards the final purchase
price. If the commitment installment is NOT
received by the time the puppies are 1 Month old
(about 3 weeks after notification) we will put
you back in the reservation queue and contact
the next person in line. Please understand we
MUST ensure that the pick-up arrangements are
set one month in advance of pick-up. |
All
Committed buyers will receive a packet of information
specially compiled to assist them in the
acclimation of their new pup to its new home.
EVERY new owner is required to FULLY review this
information before they take possession of their
new family member to ensure the puppy's transition
and acclimation is as easy as possible. We also
provide articles and training guides to the new
owner to assist them in their personal "Airedale
Education".
|
In keeping with the breed standard, tail docking and dew claw removal are performed by a
veterinarian at approximately 3 to 5 days old.
Every puppy receives a basic health check, de-wormings and their first series of
vaccinations by our veterinarian before they
leave for their new homes. Puppies are also
Micro-chipped as a means of permanent
identification.
|
All JOVAL puppies are raised in our home and in a
family setting utilizing the "Puppy Head Start"
early development program. They are very well socialized and
are exposed to every aspect of the "home environment"
including noises, other pets, children, visitors,
etc... Overall, our puppies are raised
with love and we take great pains to ensure the health
and well-being of each of our babies. All litters
are continually evaluated from their birth until they
go to their new homes.
We will
provide emails approximately every week or so
with updates on the litter along with pictures so that
you can watch them grow and feel a part of the
experience.
|
Throughout the
many years of our program, we have become very
experienced in "temperament testing" all of our
puppies and have used these results as a basis for
assistance in placing each pup with the appropriate family.
Since we at JOVAL Airedales want to ensure the
happiness of both the puppies and their new
families, we offer assistance by instructing every
new owner in the areas of training, grooming and
general care of their new family member.
|
At the age of 8 weeks, final
evaluations are performed to determine
availability and selection order (if possible). It is our goal
is to create the best possible match between
available puppies and prospective families, and,
we utilize these evaluations as the primary factor
in determining puppy selection availability
while being fair to and accommodating the needs
of all our clients
|
Visitation
of the puppies is permitted and encouraged but
by appointment only. Please understand that
final number of available puppies CAN NOT be fully
known nor can selections be made until after
evaluations are performed. Puppies are normally
allowed to leave for their new homes at
approximately 8 to 9 weeks, but occasionally
additional evaluation is required and they are not
available to go to their new homes until after 12
weeks.
|
If, for whatever the reason may be, the
right puppy is
not currently available, we will put you back in
the reservation queue where you would receive priority in
the selection order for a puppy (male or female)
from the next available litter. |
Please note:
Additional to the purchase price of the Airedale
Puppy itself, at the time of pick-up or prior to
delivery, we will need to collect Virginia Sales
tax on the total purchase amount. (if the transaction is physically conducted
within the state of Virginia). At the same time
we will also need to complete the form for the
AKC Registration and the implanted Microchip.
There will be additional costs for
these registrations - payable to the AKC
directly. |
Every
new owner is encouraged to keep us informed
through emails, letters and pictures about how
they and their new family member is doing. We try
to include the pictures we receive in the
gallery section of the
website. Feel free also to read what a few of our
extended Joval Family have said about their
"experience" in our
testimonials section. |
We
do not usually sell Show Dogs, but, if you have
a special interest in showing or breeding
please contact us individually via email and not
as a general puppy inquiry through the
questionnaire.
or
If you have interest in a "Retired" adult, please
contact us individually via email
and not as a general inquiry through the
questionnaire.
